Propolis, also known as bee glue, is the brownish substance that bees collect from trees, plants and flowers. Bees use propolis to seal their hives to keep out the cold as well bacteria and disease. Sealing of the hive helps the bees during the cold and winter months. When the temperature rises the propolis will become soft and sticky.

Our bee keepers scrape the propolis off the frames of their hives, clean them by removing wood chips and other particles and freeze them for quality. We then inspect the propolis chunks for any wood or particles before bottling. Please double check before using.

People have used propolis to treat wounds and as a remedy for ailments such as acne, toothache, sore throat, skin care, and itching. Today, propolis is used in the manufacture of chewing gum, cosmetics, creams, lozenges and ointments. A number of studies have tested its effectiveness in humans as a treatment for burns, minor wounds, infections, inflammatory diseases, and dental pain. Results may vary.

Propolis contains Vitamin A, B1,B2.B3 an array of bioflavonoid’s, calcium, and magnesium to name a few. Propolis is credited with anti-fungal, anti-viral, analgesic and anti-oxidizing properties.

Raw propolis chunks can be used as is, soften by adding water or ground in to powder. Propolis can be stored at room temperature or in the freezer.
